Day 1 - LA to Houston TX

Just landed in Houston, Texas, after a 3.5 hour flight from LA and a 11.5 hour flight from Auckland.  Walked into the La Quinta here in Houston spot on 24 hours after we walked out the door at Wellington.
Upgraded on the long leg, to Premium Economy - those SpaceSeats in the B777 are pretty cool - an amazing amount of leg room!
Here are a couple of quick photos... this one of a huge American flag hanging off the LAX terminal building.  Yep, we're here alright...

Reasonably tight security at LAX by the way -  finger print and thumb scans and photo but the queues weren't as bad as expected.  Shoes and belt off through the x-ray machine for the Houston flight.

Here's a K9 Copper at LAX, with the LAX Spider in the background:

This guy loves his hats.  He's boarding the flight to Houston - Nige is right in front of him.  By the time we got off the plane, he had three hats on!

And then on to Houston.  Two hours' time difference from LA.  Much of this flight was in the dark - amazing to see just how much of the country is populated down in these parts.  Here's a shot of Houston from the air.

Righto - it's just past 2am local time, so time to hit the sack.  Heading south tomorrow to Houston Space Station, a couple of memorials as well as Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico.  See you there.  PF
